Being Coraline's mum

This week’s blogging question: “How does it feel to be Coraline’s mum?”

I love her. She has a beautiful spirit.

A psychic once told me of her that she brings, “lessons, lessons, lessons”.

It is as if I’ve turned my mind inside out since she was born as, daily, I look at my thought patterns.

There is hard work and challenge and considerable extra input to get to places, and we get there on a different timescale. We have sensory considerations. I spend a lot of detailed time completing and maintaining paperwork and at appointments.

I see typical children her age, and years younger, on a different trajectory. I am propelled to look thorny comparison in the eye and work out my own way to move through it, and into the great wide open.

We celebrate the little things and they mean a lot. That is a great feeling.

The reward is in being with Coraline as she is, and in the person I am becoming because of her.
