Here's Coraline on Monday evening relaxing in the park. We registered her birth on Monday morning. Then went to the Evelina London Children's Hospital and they did a heart scan and confirmed she does need surgery and will see us again in four weeks to determine when, but it will be in November/December time. She has two holes in the heart, one across the two atria and one across the two ventricles. This condition, Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD), is common in babies with Trisomy 21. They also need to do some repair work on the heart valve. She has one valve instead of two but they can divide this into two.

As ever the team were incredible in their skill and care, taking great time to answer all our questions. We are very grateful to them. They said she looked strong, with good tone and moving nicely. They said that everything looked as they expected further to her initial heart scan at two days old. She was really good throughout! We also liked it when they said, "she's cute; we see a lot of babies but she's really cute".
